3 Steps to Fix Dark Circles & Puffy Eyes

It's not only the natural aging process that causes dark circles and puffy bags to form around our eyes. Lack of sleep, busy schedules, and a little too much stress are notorious for taking up residency smack bang in the middle of our faces. So whether you’ve recently noticed your eyes are carrying a little excess baggage or you’re downright sick (and tired) of people telling you you look tired, you’re no doubt eager to unlock the secret to bright eyes. The secret to bright eyes? A targeted treatment, a good night’s sleep and a trusty swipe or two of Boost Lab’s ride-or-die beauty product - concealer, available at Blooms The Chemist - Burwood.

What causes dark circles and puffy bags?

The skin around the eyes is extremely delicate - about 30% thinner than the rest of the skin on your face. As we get older, dark circles appear because the skin loses volume and reveals the blood circulating under the skin. These dark circles can be exacerbated by hormone fluctuations, excessive rubbing, or pigment buildup.

Puffy bags are a result of loss of elasticity and sagging skin when the tissue structures and muscles supporting your eyelids weaken. Temporary puffiness is often caused by allergies such as hay fever, eating too much salt, and, you guessed it, lack of sleep.

Here's what you can do

Here's what you can do 👀✨

1. Get more sleep

Easier said than done? Absolutely. Obvious? Of course. But they don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing. When we sleep, our body switches into renewal mode. During this restful period, our bodies detoxify and rejuvenate, and our cells regenerate and heal. Without adequate sleep, dark circles and puffy eyes become more prominent as the skin does not have adequate time to reset, leading to the blood vessels below the eye appearing more dilated and fluids settling in the delicate tissue below the eye.

Create a nighttime routine that facilitates going to bed at a reasonable hour and falling asleep relatively quickly. That might look like switching your phone to do-not-disturb mode at 9 pm, turning off the TV at 10 or reading when you get into bed (as opposed to falling down a pre-sleep-TikTok-rabbit-hole for hours on end).

2. Invest in an eye serum

Boost Lab don’t mean to brag, but there’s a reason their
Bio-Active Eye Reset Serum - $29.95, consistently sells out. It’s simple: it works! Their Eye Reset Serum is a fraction of the cost of most eye creams on the market but delivers unrivalled results. The serum instantly transforms, tightens, and re-energises the delicate skin around the eyes, dramatically improving the appearance of dark circles and puffy bags.

… and layer for Impact

Boost Lab’s Retinol Night Renewal Retinol Serum - $29.95, is specifically designed to target and transform the delicate skin around your eyes. With its powerful blend of Vitamin A, Aloe Vera, and Bisabolol, this serum works to plump, hydrate, and firm your skin, visibly reducing the appearance of dark spots, fine lines, and wrinkles. Wake up to brighter, smoother, and more radiant-looking under eyes that look refreshed and revitalised.

3. Use a concealer

A brightening concealer effortlessly covers under-eye circles and can make even a brand new parent look like they got their eight hours. Choose an illuminating shade that suits your skin, preferably with warm undertones like peach or orange to counterbalance the blue hue of dark circles.
